<p>Kodagu was recently battered by the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/state/massive-floods-turn-coffee-687916.html" target="_blank">worst floods in a century</a> but has now put all that behind to celebrate Cauvery Sankramana.</p>.<p>At 6.43 pm on Wednesday, Cauvery River will burst into life as water will gush out of the fountainhead at Talacauvery - the source of the river, which is the lifeline of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.</p>.<p>The people of Kodagu will celebrate this year's Sankramana with the same festive spirit and religious fervour as they have always done - a sign of their perseverance. </p>.<p>The district administration is expecting around 50,000 to 60,000 people to throng Talacauvery to witness the 'Theerthodbhava'.</p>.<p>Adequate security arrangements have been made. Deputy Commissioner P I Sreevidya has directed officials to make the occasion a memorable event for devotees. </p>.<p>"Kail Pold and Madikeri Dasara celebrations were subdued affairs this year but Cauvery Sankramana will be celebrated with great zeal, as the day symbolises Goddess Cauvery's descent to earth," said M C Nanaiah, the district development manager of Nabard and a devotee. </p>.<p>Kodagu has three main festivals, of which Kail Muhurtha (Kail Pold), is a significant one.
