'CM's arrogance against farmers intolerable’

District BJP President Mattar Ratnakar Hedge accused Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of acting cruelly towards farmers, in particular, the women farmers demanding minimum support price for sugarcane.

Hegde told media persons that the chief minister’s arrogance towards the farmers is totally intolerable. He said the chief minister has described farmers as criminals. How can the government be rude towards the farmers? he asked.

In order to condemn the chief minister’s arrogant behaviour against the framers, the district BJP is organising a protest rally in front of the DC’s Office on November 23, he said.

Lauding the prime minister’s new project of giving gas connections through pipelines in 129 districts of the country, which also includes Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, Hegde added said the programme will be launched on November 22.

The task has been taken up in association with the Petroleum Natural Gas Regulatory Board. Gas bunks will be set up and the gas will be made available at a cost of Rs 120. The companies, like Adani and HPCL, are working on the projects worth more than Rs 50,000 crore, he added.

The launching ceremony of the projects will be telecast live at Beedenagudde grounds on November 22. Tributes will be paid to late Union minister Ananth Kumar in the presence of Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami at the programme.

A dharna to protest against the government’s apathy to the Panchayat system has been planned in front of DC office on November 23. On December 2, a campaign in favour of the construction of Ram Mandir will be held in Udupi district, he added.
