Seize the glow

It’s time for the festivities to begin. Everyone has got their ‘to do’ lists ready. One of the top things in the list is flawless and radiant skin. Everyone wants to present themselves in the best possible way. This can be easily achieved. Especially with a good skin routine, some skin treatments, regular exercise and a proper diet. Also, when you’re fasting during Navratri, make sure you have an ample fluid intake. Moreover, it is also important to consume fresh fruits and take in adequate fibre. That said, there are a couple of ways in which you can get the perfect festive look that will blend in with the celebratory mood. Here’s how:

Pamper your skin

In the coming months, because of low humidity, the skin can turn dry, and also all the alcohol intake can lead to a dull, dehydrated and itchy skin. Therefore, it is vital that you hydrate your skin. This not only includes your face, but also your entire body. Step up your daily moisturising routine and apply a moisturiser two or three times a day. In addition, a moisturiser for your face is better if it also has anti-ageing ingredients. That way, you kill two birds with one stone. Accordingly, look for ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E in your moisturiser. The product should feel good and be fragrance-free in order to avoid any allergic reactions.

Your night cream should also contain moisturising ingredients like retinol, niacinamide and Vitamin E. While retinol will prevent fine lines, wrinkles and firm the skin, niacinamide will help in clearing up blemishes, making the skin tone more even.

Whilst you pamper your face, do not forget your neck, decolletage, hands and feet. They need to look lovely when you are wearing your best dresses for Navratri, Diwali and Christmas.

Get the diet right

Try to eat right during the day as you are going to indulge yourself at the parties anyway. Hence, boost your anti-oxidants with all the (natural) coloured fruits and vegetables like the reds, yellows, oranges and purples. They are rich in antioxidants. So gorge on berries, tomatoes, bell peppers, carrots, and beetroot. Make your best juices and smoothies and have plenty of green tea, too. Antioxidants will fight the free radicals and make your skin glow. Furthermore, avoid using outdated cosmetics and make sure your make-up brushes and sponges are clean.

Also, don’t forget to remove your make-up before you sleep. In preparation for the festive season, the first thing you should do before applying make-up is to moisturise your face and all the exposed parts of your body. A face moisturiser doubles up for a primer and allows your foundation to sit smoothly on your skin. It prevents caking and allows your make-up to stay longer. This festive season, look your best and glow on. For those of you in your 20s, nurture and nourish your skin. And, those of you in your 30s and 40s, it’s time to redefine yourself.

So, gear up for the festivities with a youthful and rejuvenated skin.
