CPM, Cong challenge Modi to contest from Kerala

Last Updated 01 May 2019, 10:54 IST

The CPM and the Congress leaderships in Kerala have challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contest in Kerala.

The remark came as a reaction to the prime minister's criticism of the CPM and Congress over the Sabarimala issue.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told reporters that instead of making inflated statements, Modi should prove himself by contesting from Pathanamthitta in the Lok Sabha polls. He also said that Tripura would not happen in Kerala, but the LDF will repeat its 2004 election performance in which it won 16 Lok Sabha seats.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala asked if Modi was ready to contest in Kerala. He also said that the Congress will repeat its performance in the Hindi heartland in Kerala, too.
