There will be a “friendly fight” between coalition partners Congress and JD(S) will face a “friendly fight” in the upcoming elections to urban local bodies, said Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mahesh said, both the JD(S) and Congress had winners and losers in the previous election. “Both the parties are prepared for the elections and there are aspirants in each party. The ticket aspirants may support the opposition party or they may contest as independents, if they are denied tickets,” he said.

He said that Congress and JD(S) were the traditional rivals in the region “Thus, alliance is slightly difficult in the local body elections. However, there would be a alliance if the leaders of both the parties decide so.”
