Last Updated 22 May 2019, 07:09 IST

The cave in Kedarnath, which shot to fame because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meditation, is now up for rent at Rs 990 per day. The 'Rudra meditation caves' were built as per suggestions from the PM who opined that such structures could be created for anyone who wants peace and seclusion.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the cave was initially priced at Rs 3,000 per day, but was later slashed to Rs 990 per day. Citing a Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam official, the report cited that the caves initially did not receive any response because they were opened during the extreme winter season and the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam booking policy required a minimum of three-day booking period in order to stay at the caves. However, the clause has been removed according to that report.

According to Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam website, the cave has food and drinking water facilities, electricity, a bell to call round-the-clock attendant and a telephone to be used in case of an emergency.

The availability of these comforts makes it an attractive place for the tourists. As per the rules mentioned in the website, a person will have to undergo two medical tests and must book a room initially for minimum three days. Each room can accomodate only one person.
