Sony Pictures Animation’s ‘Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation’ is all set to hit the theatres this weekend and young Bengalureans are eagerly looking forward to watching the film.

There are two characters that prominently stand out in the movie. One is Count Dracula, voiced by Adam Sandler.

He returns to take a much-needed vacation from his vocation of managing his castle turned hotel. He is joined by his widely unorthodox family of that comprise of all kinds of monsters and his human son-in-law.

The second character is Andy Samberg, the frontman of ‘The Lonely Island’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’. He returns as the voice of Johnny, a human who is married to Dracula’s daughter Mavis, voiced by Selena Gomez.

This living and undead couple have been the main focus of the previous parts of the series but not this time.

The movie has a child-friendly and hilarious take on the classic enmity between Dracula and the monster hunter - Dr Abraham Van Helsing voiced by Jim Gaffigan.

Anish Athreyas, a movie buff watches all genres of films. He says, “I can’t say much as I haven’t seen the second one. But I did like the first one which had a good story. I will be expecting something more than that in the third edition of the movie. The trailer seems to be exciting with a different storyline that inducts cruises. This movie might be something different from the two earlier versions.”

Swathy S, a student of communications likes the series but has a mixed opinion about the movie. She says, “I just think the theme of the third movie is cliched. I will watch it to see how it ends and it will mostly be with a girl liking Drac. I get it that the monsters are supposed to represent the shunned sections of the society and accepting them is what the movie highlights. I think this can be done with less cliches.”

With a lot of celebrities voicing this franchise, there’s also a good musical score to look forward to other than the comedy. Some might find it cheesy but remember that this is mainly for children. Aryashree Narayan, an ardent fan, says, “Wherever there’s Drac, there’s bound to be fireworks. It’s always about him messing things up in epic proportions and scrambling to tie it all up in the end. Can’t wait to see what the new movie in the franchise has in store for Drac and team.”

Few things about ‘Hotel Transylvania 3-A Monster Vacation’

This is the first animated film for the actor Kathryn Hahn, even though she had previously done voice-over work in Animated TV Shows.

In the last scene of the film there is a DJ faceoff- In that scene we will hear some Indian classical music to calm the sea monster

All three movies draw heavily on the actors to shape the characters’ personalities. Mavis was drawn to resemble Selena Gomez, and Andy Samberg, who plays Jonathan, Mavis’ husband, says he based the easy-going character on his Bay Area friends.

For Adam Sandler, casting is a family affair. His real-life wife Jackie provided the voice for Martha, and his daughters have played everyone from young Mavis to werewolf puppies in the films.
