Global taste, desi twist

Last Updated 21 September 2018, 12:43 IST

Tucked in the busy lanes of Tavakere Main Road, ‘Pin Me Down’ is not too hard to spot, thanks to its brightly lit exteriors. Bringing global cuisine to your plate with a desi twist, this restaurant is fast becoming a popular dining spot for young couples.

If you are visiting this place with a big group, we recommend, you climb straight up to the first floor, it is an open space and will be comfortable for huge gatherings. However, if you are looking for a more cosy space, head to the ground floor.

The ambience of the restaurant has a stable feel to it and is decorated with cowboy hats, horseshoes and wooden fences. There is also a small place for live performances. The lighting and music add to the vibe of the place.

Start your meal with ‘Bhel Coated Onion Rings’. The addition of ‘bhel’ in the classic onion rings is a fresh take and makes it crispier and unique. ‘Fish Tikka’, is also a good choice. It is soft and perfectly spiced. The ‘Shredded Chicken Nachos’, was my favourite. The fresh homemade tortilla chips loaded with salsa, beans and melted cheese will make you go for the next bit. If you are up for something unusual, ‘Kurkuri Roti’ is something you must try. Down your starters with mocktails like ‘Blush Over Ice’, it is refreshing and minty and ‘Guava Jack’, a spicy twist to your classic guava juice.

The best part about this place is, almost everything that is served to you is homemade, from buns and nachos to the different sauces. Another interesting fact is every meat is boneless including fish. So, you can enjoy your favourite meat without any interruptions.

Be careful not to fill yourself up with just starters, the main course is equally lip-smacking. Ask for a thin crust ‘Chicken Bolognese’ pizza’ and a plate of ‘Dal Papad’. The crunchy base loaded with generously spread cheese and chicken pieces will give you an ‘OMG’ moment.

The ‘Dal Papad’ is a unique addition to the menu and something that you may have not had at a restaurant before. Mixed dal served with crunchy pieces of papad, who knew that was actually a combination.

Make sure you keep some space for dessert. Dig into the goodness of ‘Beetroot Halwa’ or choose the rich and royal ‘Sheer Korma’. For those who don’t like beetroot, this is a must try, I promise, you won’t regret.

You can also choose ‘Caramel Popcorn’ to complete your meal in a fun way. The best part, it doesn’t stick to your teeth. It is crisp.

The restaurant doesn’t believe in storing food hence don’t be disappointed if you don’t find items like biryani. They also have a breakfast menu which is served only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

‘Pin Me Down’ is located at 29, Tavakere Main Road, Behind Forum Mall, Koramangala. For details, contact 9108416101.
