Missing boat: Coast Guard launches search and rescue

The Indian Coast Guard ships based in Mangaluru and Goa and an aircraft are involved in search and rescue operation of one of the missing fishing boat ‘Suvarna Tribhuja.’

There were eight fishermen on board the boat which left for deep sea fishing from Malpe on December 13.

One Coast Guard Dornier craft from Mangaluru and two fast patrol vessels from Goa have been pressed into service. Further, interceptor craft and interceptor boats are also in action.

The assistance of the Indian Navy from Karwar is also sought for the operation.

The fishermen remained in contact with their relatives till midnight of December 15. Later, they went incommunicado.

A complaint on the missing fishermen along with the boat was filed on December 23.
