11 held in H'bad for cricket betting

Banjara Hills police have busted a cricket betting racket and arrested 11 people and seized Rs 7.5 lakh, 40 cell phones, laptop, a television set and other equipment.

On a tip off that betting bids were made for the IPL T20 cricket match being played between Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, the police apprehended Bommi Reddy Ramprasad Reddy, the main accused, and Bommi Reddy Giridhar Reddy at Sri Satyasai Nigamanagam in Srinagar colony of the city.

The police said the accused were caught red-handed while accepting betting through phones. Along with cash, the police also seized electronic equipment and accounts books.
The punters are from Proddutur town of Kadapa district.
