JOIN USA 19-year-old woman was purportedly raped by an auto rickshaw driver and four others in Sohna, the police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening when the woman, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was returning to her village from Sohna, they said.
"The victim in her complaint to the police said she was waiting for a bus to Aligarh at Sohna tempo stand at 8 pm. Seeing her alone, the accused auto driver approached her, telling her she was like his sister and offered to drop her in Gurugram," Ravinder Kumar, the spokesperson of Gurugram Police said.
"He told her that the bus plying to Aligarh had left and she could take a bus to Aligarh from Gurugram. He promised to drop her following which she boarded the auto," he said.
Kumar said after travelling some distance, the driver stopped the auto at an isolated place where four of his friends were already present.
"They offered her a drink laced with sedatives. The accused then took turns to rape her," he said, adding that later they fled the spot.
The victim, however, managed to note down the registration number of the auto, he said.
"A case has been registered in Bhondsi police station and investigation is underway to identify the accused persons," he said, adding that the police have questioned many suspected auto drivers but no arrests have been made so far.
