50% of ex-royals lost

Sidhi Kumari, MLA elect from Bikaner and Vishvendra Singh, MLA elect from Deeg.

When it comes to the erstwhile royals, the Rajasthan poll results show a mixed response. Out of 11 royals who contested, seven lost their seats.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who hails from royal family of Dholpur, has won from her traditional seat of Jhalrapatan.

Kota Kalpana Devi also won from the Ladpura constituency in Kota. It was her first Assembly election and she had joined the BJP on the eve of ticket distribution.

Siddhi Kumari of the Bikaner royal family resisted the anti-incumbency factor and won the election from Bikaner East on BJP ticket. It was her third win here.

From the Congress, Bharatpur former royal Vishvendra Singh has also won the election. Singh defeated Dr Shailesh Singh of the BJP.

Topping the list of former royals who lost is Rao Rajendra Singh, from the Shahpura royal family, who is also  the outgoing deputy speaker of the Rajasthan Assembly. Singh had been representing this constituency for the last three times.

Another royal in the BJP camp who lost miserably is Forest Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar. Khimser fought from Lohawat and was defeated by Kisana Ram Vishnoi of Congress.

Krishnendra Kaur Deepa, former minister of state for tourism and cousin of Vishvendra Singh, also lost her seat from Nadbai.

In the Congress camp, Aimuddin Ahmed Khan, former health minister, who contested from Tijara lost to a BJP candidate.
