Sixty cadres of a fringe Hindu outfit were arrested on Thursday for trying to stage a 'rail-roko' in Coimbatore to protest the entry of women of menstruating age into Sabarimala Temple.

The Hindu Makkal Katchi activists were prevented from staging the protest at a railway station in Coimbatore, the police said, adding that 15 members of the BJP lawyers' wing here burnt a portrait of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

On Wednesday night, unidentified miscreants stoned a hotel owned by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) in Chennai.
