Aam Aadmi Party MLA from west Delhi’s Vikaspuri, Mahendra Yadav, was arrested on Friday for “inciting violence”.

Yadav along with his supporters had staged a protest alleging “police inaction” in the rape of a three-year-old girl on Thursday.

Yadav is the sixth AAP MLA to be arrested by Delhi Police. Three of his supporters were also nabbed. They were presented before Metropolitan Magistrate Harvinder Singh, who allowed the police to question them for a day.

Yadav has been booked under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 186 (obstructing public servant), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant) of the IPC and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

Two policemen were allegedly injured in stone pelting while taking action against the protesters.

One protester was also arrested and a juvenile apprehended from the spot on Thursday. The police told the court that there were about 100 to 150 AAP supporters who tried to disrupt traffic movement.
