Accidental firing at Bengal State Secretariat

Tension spread at West Bengal's State Secretariat in Hooghly district adjoining Kolkata when a shot was accidentally fired from the service revolver of an on-duty police personnel on Saturday.

However, there was no casualties in the incident.

Speaking to DH a senior police official said that the incident took place in the afternoon during change of shift of police personnel at the Secretariat.

Following such an incident at a high-security place such as the State Secretariat, a probe has been ordered.

"Only after the investigation can we comment on how the incident took place," the police official said.
