Actor Dileep's multiplex to be closed down

More trouble brewed for Malayalam actor Dileep on Thursday, as municipal authorities in Chalakudy, Thrissur district, decided to close down D Cinemaas, a movie multiplex owned by the actor.

Dileep is lodged in the Aluva sub-jail near Kochi following his arrest in connection with the abduction and molestation of an actress in February.

At a special meeting convened by the municipal council, members unanimously decided to close the operations of the multiplex amid allegations that the construction had violated building norms and permissions were secured using forged documents.

A vigilance court in Thrissur, hearing a petition, has already ordered an investigation into the charges of land encroachment during the construction of the multiplex.

The licences and occupancy certificate of the building will remain cancelled till findings of the vigilance probe are out.

The district survey department had earlier stated, after an inquiry, that no evidence was available to establish that the land was encroached.

Following the actor’s arrest, surveys of properties owned by him in other districts had been initiated.
