Air India Express flight crash highlights: Airline says mortal remains of deceased passengers handed over to their families

Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri announces interim relief of Rs 10 lakh for kin of deceased, Rs 2 lakh for people who are seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for persons with minor injuries. The black box of the flight was brought to Delhi and kept at DGCA lab for examination. Air India Express flight inbound from Dubai crashes at Karipur airport in Kozhikode. According to the local police, flight IX 1344 skidded off the runway while landing. There were around 190 passengers on board. All rescued passengers have been taken to hospitals. Rough weather was prima facie considered to be the reason for the mishap. The aircraft overshot the runway. The flight's landing was also getting delayed by over 30 minutes owing to the bad weather. Kozhikode crash: Airlines staff gather at Delhi airport to pay tributes to deceased co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar

Around 200 pilots and ground staff of various airlines gathered at the airport and paid their respects when the mortal remains of co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar, who died in the Kozhikode flight crash, reached Delhi in the early hours of Sunday, officials said.

After conducting a thorough & unbiased probe, can we tell what exactly happened: DGCA

Soon we will have all transcripts from recovered black boxes. We are also going to talk to Boeing to examine aircraft’s original equipment & check for defects. Only after conducting a thorough & unbiased probe, can we tell what exactly happened, said Anil Kumar, Director General, DGCA.

Since it is an international airport, international aviation bodies are welcome to aid us in the investigation, said Anil Kumar.
