After one week of devastating floods, the situation has improved in Assam. On Tuesday, there has been no fresh report of inundation in the state, barring a few low-lying areas in Dhubri district bordering Bangladesh.
Now only 2.60 lakh people remain affected, in comparison to the peak, when the number of people affected was above 8 lakhs. At least 16 people have died in the floods, with the recovery of two more bodies from Dhubri and Kokrajhar districts respectively.
