Two soldiers were injured in an ongoing encounter between army and militants in upper reaches of Bandipora forests in north Kashmir on Friday.

Sources said the incident took place during a search operation launched by the army's 27 Rashtriya Rifles a week ago in the woods of Chaan Daji and Dani Behak area of Bandipora.

On Friday morning, after observing suspicious movement in the area, the soldiers fired some warning shots.

" In the meantime, two army men who were part of the search party suffered bullet wounds," they said and added that the injured have been hospitalised.

Sheikh Zulfikar, Superintend of Police (SP) Bandipora, said they have received the information about the firing incident in the area and have deputed a police party to the site to ascertain the details.
