The Calcutta High Court will deliver its final verdict on BJP’s proposed rath yatra in West Bengal on Thursday.

During the hearing of the case, a single bench of the High Court stated that on Thursday BJP’s lawyers will be given 15 minutes to make their final argument and the state government will be given 10 minutes to present its argument.

''The court will give its final verdict on the case on Thursday. It heard both sides and reserved its verdict for Thursday.” a lawyer representing BJP said.

The development comes after the state government refused to grant permission to BJP’s rath yatra on grounds that the event may disrupt communal harmony in the state.

In the last hearing, the High Court asked the state government to submit video footage of the meeting held recently between its officials and BJP representatives regarding the rath yatra.

The rath yatra which was earlier scheduled to begin on December 7 will cover all the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal.
