The itinerary of the couple in the city includes a visit to the United Theological Seminary, where Jane was born when her father was a teacher there and where she spent her early childhood. Dr Rowan Douglas Williams, already in India, is visiting the Seminary on October 23, accompanied by wife Jane and son Pip Williams.

“The Archbishop’s sentimental bond with Kerala is obvious as his wife was born and brought up in the Seminary campus, when her father, late Rev Geoffrey Paul, was a teacher here”, said a spokesperson for KUT Seminary.

Rev Paul came to India as a missionary-priest of Church Mission Society (CMS) and had served in Palayamkottai in Tamil Nadu besides Thiruvananthapuram.

During the stay here, the Williams’ will visit the cottage where Jane was born and spent her early childhood. Archbishop Williams is coming here on invitation from the South Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India.
