Actions by agencies not related to elections: Shivraj

Last Updated 07 February 2019, 16:01 IST
Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday argued that Robert Vadra’s questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) can not be linked with the Lok Sabha elections. He also said that the same applies to the CBI investigation into the Saradha chit fund scam as it has been going on for several years.
“Investigating agencies do not function as per the election schedule. The Saradha chit fund scam is bit new and investigation has been going on for several years. Whether it's Robert Vadra or any other person everyone should face probe. If they have not done anything wrong they will acquitted. If they are involved in irregularities then law will take its own course,” said Chouhan.
He was speaking to reporters at the state BJP headquarters in Kolkata. Chouhan also took a dig at the Mahagathbandhan and alleged that its constituents have come together to save themselves from the law as they are involved in corruption.
“Those who have come together are involved in corruption and scams have come together to save themselves,” said Chouhan.
He also said that another reason for which the opposition parties are joining forces is that they are afraid that Narendra Modi will once again become prime minister.
“These weak scared people are trying to stop a strong leader like Narendra Modi from becoming the Prime Minister again. They will never succeed,” said Chouhan.
He also took a dig at the SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh and said it is still not clear which side has coxed the other to come together.
“Only their hands have come together and not the hearts. The opposition is devoid of principle, intention and leader,” said Chouhan.
