CPI MP Gurudas Dasgupta on Saturday called for a “combination of political forces” to fight united against the economic policies of the UPA government.
Addressing a press conference in the city, Dasgupta said that the decision of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs to double the price of domestically produced gas would have a cascading effect on the prices of fertilisers. He claimed that the production costs of fertilisers would increase by Rs 6,000 per tonne, thereby burdening farmers.
Urging the Prime Minister to act immediately on the matter, he added, “The Centre should review the purchase of 25 per cent stake by Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways in the domestic carrier Jet Airways, as it would have an adverse effect on other domestic players.”.
