Delhi Metro opens winter home for the elderly

The Old Age Winter Home at Govindpuri, where the residents will be provided with all basic necessities, will remain open till March 31.

The winter home can accommodate about 45 to 50 needy people.
“DMRC will provide all the basic necessities such as beds, pillows, blankets, chairs, water dispenser, plates, and glasses to the occupants,” a DMRC spokesman said.

The home, being run in association with the NGO Help Age India, will also serve dinner, breakfast and tea to the occupants and offer basic medial assistance.

Apart from these, physiotherapy and health check up sessions will also be organised.
About proper functioning of the facility, the spokesman said DMRC officials “will also make periodical inspections” to ensure that it functions properly and the quality of services remains good.
