Feuds in Kerala BJP ahead of Amit Shah's visit

Last Updated 31 August 2014, 19:45 IST

A day ahead of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah’s meeting with office bearers of the party’s state unit here, factional feuds in the party were back in focus during a state executive meeting.

Reports here said a group of leaders would meet Shah seeking the ouster of state president V Muraleedharan.

The internal fights in the BJP have for long affected the party in the state with reports even tracing the failure of veteran leader O Rajagopal in the recent Lok Sabha election from Thiruvananthapuram.

Senior leaders are said to have proposed a change of leadership in the state and are pushing the agenda with Shah who arrived here late on Sunday on his first visit to the state after taking over as the party’s national president.

Sources in the BJP, however, said there was nothing “serious” about the differences within the party.
