Gujarat govt opposes bail to Hardik Patel

Last Updated 04 May 2016, 19:46 IST

In what came as a setback for jailed pro-quota Patel leader Hardik Patel, the Gujarat government on Wednesday refused to accept his undertaking that he will not indulge in any incendiary activities if granted bail in sedition cases.

The state government stated this during a hearing on Hardik’s appeal for regular bail in the Gujarat High Court.

In an another twist, rift among the Patidar stir leaders also came to the fore during the hearing, as Hardik’s counsel Zubin Bharada argued that it was not Hardik who instigated the people to indulge in violence aftermath of Maha Kranti Rally at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad on August 25, 2015, but his aides Dinesh Bhamaniya, Chirag Patel and Ketan did.
