<p class="title rtejustify">Actor-politician Kamal Haasan on Wednesday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi and discussed the political situation in Tamil Nadu.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The meeting lasted for about 45 minutes, during which the two leaders were understood to have exchanged notes on keeping the BJP away from power.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Haasan described the meeting as a courtesy call and ruled out any discussion of an alliance between his nascent political outfit Makkal Needhi Maiam and the Congress.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">“We did not discuss that. We did discuss politics, but not the way you think,” Haasan replied to questions about an alliance.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">“Enjoyed meeting Kamal Haasan in Delhi today. We discussed a wide range of issues concerning our two parties, including the political situation in Tamil Nadu,” Gandhi said on Twitter soon after the meeting.</p>.<p class="CrossHead rtejustify"><strong>Meets EC officials</strong></p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Haasan also reciprocated the gesture and thanked Gandhi for his inputs. “Thank you Rahul Gandhiji for the time and inputs. Hope our conversation was useful to you as well,” the budding politician said.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Haasan had met Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi at the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on May 23.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Earlier, Haasan met Election Commission officials to formally register his political party.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">“Election Commission had certain queries regarding our party. We have furnished all those details today. EC has said that very soon, the party will be registered,” Haasan said.</p>
