Kerala seeks financial package for endosulfan victims

Briefing reporters after a special cabinet meeting here,State Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan wanted Centre to approve the rehabilitation pacakage for endosulfan victims worked out of the state to a tune of Rs.125 crores and the additional finacial assistance of Rs.117 crores recommended of National Human Rights Commission.

On other cabinet decisions, Achuthanandan said state would stand guarantee to the loan of Rs1490 crores to be availed by Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited, the special purpose vehicle formed by the state to facilitate development of the port, from the consortium of banks led by State Bank of Travancore.

The Malabar Port has been selected as the partner for the development of Ponnani Harbour by the bid evaluation committee, he said.

Cabinet also decided to implement wage revision in eight public sector units including Travancore Titanium Products Ltd, Traco Cables, Steel Industries, Coir Corporation, United Industries Ltd and Bamboo Corporation, he said.
