Mamata Banerjee promises action against 'attackers', claims has videos

A day ahead of the high stakes electoral battle in the Nandigram Assembly constituency, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she has photos and videos of those who allegedly attacked her in Nandigram.

Speaking at a rally at Goghat in Hooghly district, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo threatened to “drag out” the attackers no matter which State they are hiding in.

An enraged Mamata said that no matter which “gaddar” (traitor) was giving shelter to the attackers, she would find them and take action.

“I kept quiet only because the Assembly elections are going on. Otherwise, I would have taught them (the attackers) a lesson. How dare they attack my vehicle,” said Mamata.

“I have photos and videos of the attackers. Let the elections be over and then I will take action. It doesn’t matter which ‘gaddar’ is sheltering you. Where will you hide? Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan? I will drag you out and bring you back to Bengal,” she said.

The TMC supremo alleged that she was heckled by BJP cadres while visiting a TMC worker who was undergoing treatment after being assaulted. She further alleged that her vehicle was chased by some people holding placards. She said that the BJP has hired goons who used to work for the CPI(M).

“You (BJP) are so scared to fight a woman. BJP has no cadres of its own. They are depending on goons borrowed from the CPI(M) whom they have given tickets to contest elections,” said Mamata.

Speaking at a rally in Singur later in the day the Chief Minister alleged that BJP leaders were distributing crores of Rupees to influence voters and urged the Election Commission to take action.

She further alleged that the BJP was bringing hired anti-socials from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to create trouble in Bengal.

“Several BJP leaders are sitting in hotels and distributing crores of rupees from there. What is the Election Commission doing? Where is their Naka checking? BJP is bringing goons from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in Bengal. Several outsiders have entered the state,” said Mamata.

She urged the Election Commission not to act only on the basis of BJP’s claims.

Mamata will face off against her former protegee Suvendu Adhikari in the Nandigram seat on Thursday.
