Mamata on fire after ex-IPS officer's suicide

Last Updated 25 February 2019, 11:49 IST

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee landed in a soup after a suicide note of a retired IPS officer accused her of abetting him to commit suicide.

Gaurav Dutt, a 1986 batch IPS officer, in his suicide note alleged that the chief minister kept withholding his dues after his retirement in December, 2018.

On Tuesday, Dutt's wife found him laying in blood from slit wrist at their house in Salt Lake. Later, he was declared dead at a hospital in the city.

BJP state leader Mukul Roy came out and asked chief minister's arrest for abetment to suicide. He also demanded a CBI probe in this matter.

However, the state government kept mum on this incident. Reports say the dues mentioned in the suicide note have not been pending. The "compulsory waiting" was imposed because of the disciplinary proceedings against him.
