The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections will pave way for the BJP government in Delhi, party president Amit Shah told his new corporators at a function organised to celebrate the good show in the civic polls.

Shah also said the verdict was a stamp of approval of the Modi government’s performance and marks an end of “atmosphere of negativity and non- performance” alluding to AAP which has been alleging that EVMs were tampered to benefit the BJP in elections. The BJP won 181 out of 270 wards, retaining its decade long-hold over the three municipal bodies of south, north and east part of the capital city.

“Our opponents were expecting the winning run of (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi to come to a halt in Delhi, but due to the hard work and passion of the party workers, a massive victory was secured. Our main target was not the MCD polls. This victory has laid the foundation for the BJP to form the next government in Delhi,” ,” Shah said at ‘Vijay Parv’ function here.

The AAP's slide is getting muddied with fresh round of buzz that its poet-politician Kumar Vishwas was engineering a split in the party to join the BJP.

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan circulated a message saying that Kumar was contemplating breaking away with 30 MLAs and switching over to the BJP.

BJP sources denied Khan's charge that the party was trying to destablise the AAP.
