The bigwigs of both Congress and BJP are all set to hold rallies in poll-bound Rajasthan from Sunday.

PM Narendra Modi will begin his Rajasthan campaign for the December 7 assembly election on November 25 from Alwar, whereas Rahul Gandhi will kick-start his rally from Ajmer dargah.

Interestingly, both the leaders chose Alwar and Ajmer, where the BJP lost the Lok Sabha by-elections held in February this year. This will be Modi’s first public meeting in Rajasthan after the announcement of the Assembly election. The BJP won all 25 parliamentary seats in the 2014 general election but lost Alwar and Ajmer – in the by-elections held following the death of incumbent MPs.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also kicked off her campaign on Friday, addressing seven meetings in five districts.

According to information from the state BJP office, Modi will land in Alwar around noon on Sunday and address a public meeting at Vijay Nagar ground. People from all 11 assembly constituencies of the district are expected to attend the rally. The district BJP unit is targeting one lakh-strong gathering for the PM’s outing.

On Monday (Nov 26), the very next day, the PM will return to Rajasthan to do three rallies in Bhilwara, Kota and Baneshwar Dham.

The PM is scheduled to address 10 rallies ahead of the polls.

Kota city superintendent of police Deepak Bhargava said that the PM will hold a public meeting at the Dussehra Mela grounds. Kota district BJP president Hemant Vijayvargiya said that the meeting will be held around 1.30pm.

As per the itinerary shared by BJP state unit, Modi will again be in Rajasthan on November 28 to do rallies in Nagaur and Bharatpur. On December 3, the PM will again hit the campaign trail, with a massive rally in Jodhpur, which is the stronghold of Ashok Gehlot.

Rahul’s pick Ajmer, Pushkar

Rahul Gandhi will also do three rallies in Rajasthan on November 26, as many as by the PM. Gandhi’s rallies will be in Ajmer, Jalore and Jodhpur. He will visit Ajmer Dargah and Pushkar shrine and will later head towards Jaisalmer.
