Appearing in the public for the first time after the severe drubbing in the recent elections the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called upon the party cadre to let the YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s government perform before deciding on the future course of action.

Addressing cadre at the TDP Guntur district office here on the occasion of the 97 birth anniversary of party founder N T Rama Rao, Naidu said that his party would play a constructive role as opposition in the state Assembly. Yuvajana Sramika Raithu Congress Party (YSRCP) has a strength of 151, TDP 23 and Janasena Party 1 in the 175 seat AP Assembly.

“I want the cadre not to get disheartened. I want them to work hard and serve the 39 % of voters that believed in us and voted for us. We will also rectify out follies after we identify them,” Naidu told the cadre. He reiterated that TDP is always a party that worked for the welfare of backward classes.

“Few workers speaking here today have raised certain issues that might have resulted in the defeat. We must study those points and see if there is truth in it,” Naidu said.

Addressing cadre, Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh who lost the Mangalagiri assembly elections has made interesting observations. He observed that party leaders were to be blamed for the humiliating defeat in the hands of YSRCP.

“If Guntur MP Galla Jayadev could retain his seat, why not others. If EVMs’ were to be blamed I blame them for 15% while 90% of the defeat is because of our own leaders,” Lokesh Said.

On the other hand kin of NTR and widow, Lakshmi Parvathi expressed anger over lack of decoration and arrangement at the NTR Ghat the final resting place near Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad. While grandsons Jr NTR and Kalyan Ram, both sons of Harikrishna, fumed at the local organizers for neglecting the birth anniversary of the late leader. They immediately ordered for floral decoration and offered floral tributes.

NTRs’ widow Lakshmi Parvathi of YSRCP, however, pointed out that the TDP has intentionally degraded the memory of great leader NTR. Few TDP activist raised slogans against her and asked her not to politicize the issue.
