UP man hides baldness with wig during marriage, wife seeks divorce a year later

For almost a year after getting married, Rashid (name changed) managed to hide the fact from his wife that he was bald, as he always made sure to keep his wig on in her presence.

As fate would have it, his wife found out the truth one day, and now she wants a divorce.

The officials at the Family Counselling Centre at Uttar Pradesh's Meerut town came to know about the matter after the couple's case was referred to them.

According to the reports, the woman, a resident of Ghaziabad district, told the officials that her husband had put on a wig at the time of their marriage last year.

''I could not know that he was bald for almost a year, he never took off his wig. His family members knew but none of them told me about it,'' she said.

She said that a few days back, she saw her husband without the wig and was shocked to discover that he is completely bald. '

"I feel humiliated before my friends. I can not live with him any longer,'' the woman told the officials.

Though the officials at the Centre tried their best to persuade the woman not to press for divorce. she remained adamant.

''We have given the couple another date. Hopefully, by that time the wife will change her mind,'' said one of the officials.
