Omar would have been jailed like BSY, says PDP

Addressing a press conference, she alleged that after the death of senior National Conference Haji Yousuf in police custody the anti-corruption bodies in Kashmir should have swung into action against the chief minister.

“It was Omar who handed over Haji to the police after he disclosed that he had taken over  Rs 1 crore from two other party activists Yousuf Bhat and Salaam Reshi and handed over it to National Conference president and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah after the latter promised to make them MLCs and ministers,” Mehbooba said.

She said the anti-corruption bodies in the state like the State Accountability Commission and vigilance organisation have lost their essence as they are otherwise also seen hankering after poor patwaris and clerks.

As the killing of Haji Yousuf involved corruption at political level,  the State Accountability Commission should have taken cognizance of this sensational case. The probe announced by the government by a sitting judge of the high court is no where, she added.
