PM to chair Niti Aayog meeting on Sunday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the fourth meeting of the Niti Aayog’s governing council on Sunday.

The meeting will take stock of measures taken to double farmers’ income,the progress of flagship schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, National Nutrition Mission and Mission Indradhanush as also the development of aspirational districts.

The meeting will also discuss plans for a celebration to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The council, the apex body of Niti Aayog includes all chief ministers as also the members of the government think tank. The day-long meeting will be attended by Union ministers, chief ministers from the states, lieutenant governors of Union territories and senior officials from the Centre.

The Governing Council of NITI Aayog is the premier body tasked with evolving a shared vision of national development priorities, sectors and strategies with the active involvement of states in shaping the development narrative, an official statement said.

The Governing Council reviews the work done during the previous year and deliberates upon the future developmental priorities.

The meeting of the council which was expected to take place on Saturday, was postponed by a day after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chnandrababu Naidu requested the Aayog for the same in view of Eid festivities.
