Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday and Saturday reassure his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli of India's commitment to support Nepal's prosperity.

“As Nepal enters a new era of consolidating gains of democracy and achieving rapid economic growth and development, India will continue to remain a steadfast partner of government of Nepal to implement its vision of ‘Samriddha Nepal, Sukhi Nepali',” Modi said in a statement a day before commencing his visit to the neighbouring country.

Prime Minister Modi will commence his two-day visit to Nepal on Friday. He will also visit Janakpur and Muktinath apart from Kathmandu

Modi said that his third visit to Nepal as Prime Minister of India would reflect the high priority New Delhi has attached to its “age-old, close and friendly ties” with Kathmandu.

Modi hosted Oli in New Delhi last month. The visit saw New Delhi promising support to build a rail link between India and the capital of Nepal. New Delhi also agreed to support the landlocked country get access to the oceans through inland waterways.

“Together, our two countries have completed several bilateral connectivity and development projects in the last few years, and have initiated transformational initiatives for the benefit of our two peoples,” Prime Minister said in a statement issued on Thursday.

Modi said that he and Oli would have the opportunity over the next two days “to take forward” recent wide-ranging discussions in New Delhi on issues of mutual interest and to advance bilateral cooperative partnership across diverse sectors.
