Rahul's Rafale attack on BJP continues

says 'more fun in offing'
Last Updated 25 September 2018, 14:29 IST

Continuing his tirade against prime minister Narendra Modi on the Rafale deal, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that there were more skeletons in the BJP's closet and that Rafale was ''just the beginning''.

''You can expect more fun in the next two-three months... Vijay Mallya, demonetisation, GST, Lalit Modi... They all are examples of theft and we will show you that,'' Rahul told party's social media volunteers in his Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi on late Monday evening.

''Rafale is only the beginning... More fun is in the offing,'' he said.

Rahul also sought to reject the government's claim that the latter was bound by the ''secrecy clause'' in the Rafale deal and that it could not reveal the price of the fighter jets.

''I had asked French president Emmanuel Macron if there was any secrecy clause in the agreement and he had replied in the negative,'' Rahul said.

The Congress president's remarks on Modi drew the ire of the Amethi's BJP workers, who came out on the streets and held a demonstration against Rahul.

The BJP workers waved black flags, when Rahul arrived at Gauriganj to take part in the meeting of the district monitoring committee on Tuesday.

Congress workers, who had also gathered there, shouted anti-BJP slogans triggering tension.

Police had to use mild force to disperse the BJP workers from the Collectorate premises in Gauriganj.
