Rains resume in Uttara Kannada, Kodagu districts

Monsoon was active in Kodagu, Uttara Kannada and Belagavi districts on Sunday.

Belagavi city and the surrounding areas received mild showers during the day. The city received rainfall for about 10 minutes in the noon and for some time, later in the evening, while it drizzled in Khanapur, Hukkeri, Chikkodi and Nippani taluks.

After a brief lull, the coastal region in Uttara Kannada district received incessant rainfall in the morning and during noon. Farmers in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and Karwar taluks are cheerful with monsoon being active in the region.

Sowing operations are on for the cultivation of maize in Mundgod and Haliyal taluks. Dank weather prevailed throughout the day in several parts of the district.

Kodagu district witnessed light showers in most of the places, while the sky remained overcast in several taluks. In the last 24 hours the district received an average of 3.10 mm of rainfall. While, Madikeri received 6.02 mm of rainfall, Virajpet received 2.03 mm of rainfall and Somwarpet received 1.24 mm of rainfall.
