Ruling PDP MP praises Geelani

A senior leader of ruling PDP and Member Parliament (MP) Muzaffar Hussain Beig Saturday praised the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Geelani for “raising voice” against Amarnath yatra attack that left eight pilgrims dead and 18 others injured.

“The statement issued by the leader (Geelani) that the killing of yatris was un-Islamic is appreciable as the attack could have resulted in the killing of Muslims in other states of the country,” he said while speaking at the 18th foundation day rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I know Geelani Sahab from my college days. He is not greedy at all and doesn’t support terrorism. Geelani Sahab was always saying that terrorism shouldn’t erupt in Kashmir,” Baig said.

He also claimed that because of the PDP-BJP regime in Jammu and Kashmir lives of Muslims in other parts of the country could be saved after the Amarnath yatra attack in Anantnag earlier this month.

“The state government handled the situation very calmly and saved the lives of Muslims in other states,” the PDP leader claimed.
