Sant Samiti to organise 'Dharmadesh for Ram Temple

Last Updated 02 November 2018, 18:17 IST

Amid the political heat on the Ram Temple issue, the Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti is organising a two-day conference called 'Dharmadesh' from Saturday to decide the strategy of the Sant Samaj on the construction of the Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

The Samiti, which will also discuss other "burning issues related to religion" will also pass a resolution on Sunday and will condole the killing of Kar Sevaks in Ayodhya in police firing on October 30, 1990 and November 2, 1990.

The meeting of the Sant Samiti is happening a day after RSS threatened a 1992-like mass movement for Ram Mandir.

The Sant Samiti event will be attended by seers representing 127 Hindu organisations, Shankaracharyas and top Hindu saints, including the firebrand Sadhiv Rithambara, who had hogged headlines for her controversial statements during the Ram Temple movement in the nineties.

Building up momentum for the temple movement, the Sant Samiti will tomorrow pass resolutions condoling the death of Ganga crusader G D Agrawal, known Swami Saanand, who before his death had written a strongly worded letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking about commitments on cleaning the Ganga.

Members of the Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti are also in the Sant Ucchadhikar Samiti, which last month made a strong pitch for bringing a legislation to construct the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
