The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to grant any interim bail to Suhaib Ilyasi, then producer and anchor of criminal hunt TV show 'India's Most Wanted', who has been sentenced to life term for killing wife, Anju in year 2000.

A bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and Mohan M Shantanagoudar, however, asked Anupam Lal Das, representing the petitioner, to make a fresh application before the Delhi High Court.

Das submitted that the petitioner has already surrendered after the interim bail period of four weeks granted by the high court had expired on May 23.

The high court had granted him interim bail on April 26.

Ilyasi challenged the high court's order of May 14, rejecting his plea to extend interim bail to attend to his ailing second wife.

The high court has already fixed his appeal against conviction and sentence for consideration on July 4.

The top court dismissed his special leave petition but permitted him to file another application for interim bail.

A Delhi court had on December 20, last sentenced 51-year-old Ilyasi to life term with Rs 2 lakh fine, by holding, “the convict, who was the husband of the deceased, committed her (Anju, his wife) murder and gave it a colour of suicide.”
