Senior UP ATS officer commits suicide

A senior Uttar Pradesh police officer, who was additional superintendent of police (ASP) with the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), committed suicide at his office in Lucknow on Tuesday.

According to sources, Rajesh Sahni shot himself using his service revolver shortly after reaching office.

Sahni was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to the bullet injury. The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.

Sahni had led a team of ATS to nab a suspected ISI agent from neighbouring Uttarakhand last week.

A native of Bihar, Sahni had joined the Provincial Police Service in 1992 and had been promoted to ASP in 2013.
