Tollywood ace director Puri Jagannath was grilled for ten hours by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the ongoing investigation of Drug racket case at their office at nampally here on Wednesday. The probing authorities have lined up questioning of 12 Tollywood stars and technicians, one per day till 29 July starting from Puri Jagannath, Charmee, Subbaraju, Shyam K Naidu(Cinematographer), Ravi Teja, Chinna (Art Director), Navdeep, Tarun and Nandu etc.
Puri Jagannath who was busy shooting Balakrishna starrer Paisa Vasool has to reschedule shooting to meet the excise authorities. Puri was questioned on camera at a separate room by a DSP and Inspectors in a cordial atmosphere. The officers said to have questioned Puri about his acquaintance with the main accused Calvin and his recent trip to Bangkok. The officials said to have presented irrefutable evidence of Puri’s contacts with Calvin including the transfer of monies and also photographs. Doctors from Osmania hospital took blood samples from Puri for testing drug abuse.
Meanwhile, Deep Singh Uppal, father of actress Charmee Kaur, in a statement released to press I said that his daughter is innocent and she has been dragged into the controversy. “My daughter has no time focusing on these stupid things,” he said adding that he knew his daughter very well. “She is working since the age of 13 and she is still working successfully in the industry,” he said.
He said that Charmee is taking care of entire family since she has started working and she is still being a strong pillar for the family. He said that she is currently busy with the shooting of Paisa Vasool and also with her small enterprise Puri Connections.
