Surrogate baby Emperor now Jamaican

 The 12-week-old surrogate baby’s nationality which became a tricky question during the year end has finally been resolved.

Emperor, who was born to a surrogate Indian mother at a fertility centre in the state capital, while his biological parents were an American woman and her Jamaican husband has finally been permitted to leave India with an exit permit on his Jamaican passport.

Vexed with the steadfast denial of passport to facilitate his travel to the United States, his mother J Pearl Linda Vanburen Green had abandoned the child in the Regional Passport Office in Secunderabad on January 25, but the authorities located her later and handed over the baby.

The External Affairs Ministry and, with U S consulate intervention, Ms Green finally managed to get a Jamaican passport for Emperor. Regional Passport officer Srikant Reddy saw them off at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport on Tuesday.
