Telangana Cong to pay rent to poor

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the next government of People's Front, comprising the Congress, TDP, TJS and the CPI, would pay Rs 50,000 towards house rent for a year to all the applicants who registered for double bedroom houses which the TRS government failed to provide.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS government has cheated the poor people on the promise of providing double bedroom houses. He said that the TRS government had announced that it would provide 2.60 lakh double bedroom units to poor beneficiaries. They include one lakh houses in Greater Hyderabad and another 1.60 lakh in rural areas.

He promised that the People's Front government would pay Rs. 50,000 towards yearly rent to all the slum dwellers of Hyderabad and Rangareddy who had applied for a 2BHK scheme. The payment will be made within 15 days after the formation of People's Front government under a new scheme called "Maa Inti Velugu". He also promised that all the construction of all sanctioned houses would be completed within one year.

Further, Uttam Kumar Reddy said all the contract and outsourcing employees would be paid salaries on a par with government employees as per the Supreme Court's guidelines on 'Equal Work - Equal Pay'. He said these orders would be issued within three days after the formation of next government.

The TPCC Chief said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu would jointly campaign on November 28 and 29. There will be public meetings at 12 noon in Khammam and at 4 pm in Tandoor on 28 November and they will also do roadshows in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy in the evening. On 29, Rahul Gandhi and Chandrababu Naidu will do road shows and address public meetings in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.
