TTD to construct Sri Venkateswara temple in Amaravati

The Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) will be taking up construction of Sri Venkateswara temple in the 25-acre plot allotted in the capital city of Amaravati. TTD officials led by Joint Executive officer P Bhaskar presented their plans to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday. All the plans are as per Agama and Vastu sastra.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister advised the officials to protect the sanctity of the temple with ancient culture. He said modern facilities should be provided outside the temple with separate funds. The officials said that they designed the temple mixing Pallava, Chola, Chalukya and Vijayanagara architecture. It may be noted that the most beautiful example of Pallava architecture is Kailasanatha temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the Vaikunta Perumal temple to Lord Vishnu in Kanchipuram.

The Chola architecture includes Tanjore and Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Tiruchirapalli district built in 11th century AD. The Chalukya architecture rock temple include Lord Vishnu temple in Badami, Aihole and Virupaksha temple of Lord Shiva at Pattadaka in Bijapur district of Karnataka. The Vijayanagara architecture includes the splendid temples of Hazararama and Vittala at Hampi built in Krishnadevaraya reign of 1509-50 AD. However, a final decision on the designs is yet to be taken.

Rehearsal to Garuda Seva

Meanwhile, in Tirumala, a rehearsal to the preparations of the forthcoming twin mega religious events of annual and Navarathri Brahmotsavams, a trial run of Garuda Seva replicating the Brahmotsava Garuda Seva will be observed on Shravana Pournami day on Sunday. All the departments have geared up for this fete. Some cultural troupes will also perform before Garuda Seva Vahanam.

The security, engineering works, Annaprasadam, water distribution, services by Srivari Seva volunteers, scouts and guides etc. will be observed by the authorities. Any specific changes required will be done before the main event, a TTD statement said.
