From November 2012, the Unique Identification Number (UID) will be necessary for availing of any government scheme, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said.
"We will try to have 100 per cent coverage (of UID issuance) by September 30," the Chief Minister said, after a cabinet meeting here.
The Chief Minister held a discussion with the UID officials, and set the deadline of September end to issue UID to every Goan. "Currently, almost 53 per cent of the population has been covered," Parrikar told reporters.
"Six months' time is left. Everyone should get UID," Parrikar said. At the end of UID issuance drive, the state government would have got more precise data about the population, he added.
