Visit Pulwama victims' kin, Rahul to Cong leaders

Last Updated 21 February 2019, 19:11 IST

A day after calling on the families of the victims of the Pulwama attack, Congress President Rahul Gandhi directed his party leaders to visit the next of kin of each of those killed in the terror strike.

Rahul and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sprung a surprise by attending prayer meetings held in memory of two CRPF personnel – Amit Kumar Kori and Pradeep Kumar Prajapati – in Shamli and Meerut on Wednesday.

Striking a personal note, Priyanka told the family members of the CRPF personnel that she could empathise with them as she had gone through a similar experience when she lost her father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, in a terror attack.

CRPF lost 40 of its jawans in the suicide attack near Pulwama on February 14.

Rahul's diktat

Rahul has directed Congress leaders to visit the next of kin of all the victims of the terror attack to share their grief and express solidarity with them in testing times.

Rahul's instructions to party leaders comes in the wake of BJP leaders and union ministers actively participating in the last rites of the CRPF personnel.

On Thursday, Congress also hit out at BJP leaders, including Sakshi Maharaj and Tourism Minister K J Alphons, for getting themselves photographed along with the caskets carrying the mortal remains of the CRPF personnel.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his predecessor Akhilesh Yadav had also visited the families of the victims of the Pulwama terror attack.
