Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday exuded confidence in defeating the BJP in the Chhattisgarh Assembly polls and forming a government in the state.

Addressing a public meeting in Jagdalpur, he also promised that his party’s government will waive farmers' loans and start payment of their bonus along with two-years of arrears, kept by the Raman Singh government, within ten days of coming to power.

He said that his party, after coming to power, will return 4,200 acre of land to the tribal people and framers of the state, which was acquired by the Raman Singh government to set up a Tata steel plant five years ago.

Rahul launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Rafale deal and PNB loan fraud, saying the prime minister “stole” the money of the people from banks and gave it to “his rich friends.”

He also took swipe at Chief Minister Raman Singh, raking up the issue of Panama paper leaks in which the name of the later's son Abhishek Singh reportedly figured.

“Modi ji asked you to take brooms in hands for cleaning and went to steal money for his rich friends like Anil Ambani, Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi. Let me tell you one thing, the Congress is going to form its government in Chhattisgarh. It is going to happen in the next 10 days,” Rahul said.

He promised that his party’s government will use public money for public good.

Jagdalpur along with 17 other constituencies hit by left wing extremism is set to go for polls on November 12 in first phase of the state elections.

“We will spend your money in creating network of schools, colleges, roads, government hospitals, generating employment for youth in Chhattisgarh,” he said.

He said his party’s government will set up food processing units in every district so that farmers can sell their produce and get a fair price.

“In these units, your sons and daughter will get job. We want to create job opportunities for youth in Chhattisgarh,” he said.

He also promised that his party’s government will implement the land acquisition law, Panchayats (extenstion to scheduled areas) Act and Adivasi Bill to protect the rights of the farmers and tribal people in Chhattisgarh.

Rahul took a serious exception to the prime minister frequently raking up the issue of "urban Naxals" linking Congress with it, saying by making such reference he has “insulted” the Congress leaders including Mahendra Karma and Nand Kumar Patel who were killed in an ambush by Maoists in May 2013.
